Impressions on the first half of Twin Peaks S3 (2017) so far:

The geographical scope is much wider, ranging from NYC to Las Vegas to Yankton, SD. (Deadwood fans will remember what sort of people live in Yankton!) I could swear the camera briefly touched Argentina, but not for long?

I really miss Michael Ontkean. They mine his absence for story value, with some success, but one of the refreshing things in retrospect about TP S1 and S2 is how Sheriff Truman and Special Agent Cooper were huge fans of each other.

It’s fun to see the imo made-up controversy about whether Dianne is real settled by…Laura Dern.

Kyle MacLachlan’s reminds me somewhat of his turn as Mister Hyde in Agents of SHIELD actually.

I just don’t think the Good Coop arc in the first half of the season works, not even adverting to surrealism or absurdism. Most of the people he encounters would have called the Rescue Squad PDQ, and watching his idiot mimicry gets very old for me by Episode 8.

Episode 8 btw is where Frost and Lynch really let their freak-flag fly. It may also be where we finally see the White Lodge.
