If a small number of people had rated the movie and the rating was 2.5, a case could be made that the rating was manipulated. But not with 1,400 people responding.

Sorry, again, you're making assumptions without data. Someone would have to study the IMDB ratings for a comparable show & the speed which they came in, to prove or disprove what you're saying. I think it's reasonable to assume that many of the people who rated it negatively, just didn't like it.

And that’s fine. I liked it, but didn’t go to IMDb to rate it. However, I did give it a thumbs up on Netflix. Besides, if people really listened to people who rated their work, Tyler Perry and others wouldn’t be the billionaires they are today.

You're confusing two issues though. Mediocre content can be extremely popular & successful but it's still mediocre. People & their projects can be complete zeros & the people are still fabulously successful & wealthy. Kim Kardashian is a poster child for that.

How will IMDb know which ratings are fake? It's just a number. I'm not talking about 1,400 written reviews, I'm talking about 1,400 people picking a number from 1 to 10. Their moderators can check the written reviews & get rid of the ones that seem off but that won't adjust the overall rating.

I have read the reviews and they are mostly good. The negative ones are written in such a way, that you can see that they have not watched the series. The use of the same old hate phrases is boring.

I ALWAYS check IMDb ratings before I watch anything. There are thousands of new viewing options each year & it would be impossible for me to know what is good and not good without doing some research. I realize that the ratings can be played with if the subject is controversial. But 2.5 is terrible.

Well, I don’t watch a lot of television and I go by word of mouth from people I know and trust. Either way, I never use IMDb and just hope that people are judging the series honestly. 👋🏾
