Anas Sarwar's Scottishness isn't contested because Scottish identity is distinct from Britishness in a way Englishness isn't. It's not my view but Kisin says he himself isn't English.

FFS. Kisin was born in Russia. He's free to define himself as Russian. I was born here and this racist fuckwit is telling me I'm not English. This is not complicated.
He would presumably say my own daughter who was born here isn't English either because her mother is black. I don't agree. Am I supposed to be angry about this?
I'm not angry. I'm just pointing out that denying either me or your daughter an English identity is not remotely complexed or nuanced. It's explicitly racist.
As I say, he sees British as a hybrid identity like 'Italian-American'. It's a common view I've heard from other minority groups: 'I'm British but I'm not English'. I even heard it from my own daughter.
Kisin has a crude definition of English tied to Anglo Saxon Britons and thinks British is a similar identity to American. FWIW I do not like him and I have no wish to defend him. He panders to conservatives a lot but I'd fall short of calling him a racist per se.
