i think . you know how people lament that they cant write as fast as they used to when they were kids. i think thats me with 413 ac and i have to just accept that the easy way to write isn't going to lead to satisfying enough results anymore

i keep being like 'okayy maybe all i have to do is just sit down and write whatever comes to mind and magically a plot will happen on my screen' and like. that only works if you arent really concerned with the meanings or implications of anything your subconscious cooks up
from now on im banning myself from drawing comic panels until ive written a whole script for a whole story with a beginning middle and ending. concept art doesnt count
the base concept of sylphs lament has changed so drastically recently and its definitely for the better but i do feel a little sad about the more self indulgent ideas that are getting nixed because they're incoherent. some of them originated in muchhh older writing so i'm sad they're still unusable
but at least now i can see why they're unusable. a lot of them originate in genres that i actually don't even like that much! and i was just trying to force my ideas into frameworks i was familiar with, but which didn't serve them very well, because i didn't know what else was out there
and others were from not really understanding the purpose of fiction. pardon the STEM major showing through but its like a new student thinking it's stupid that we approximate a cow as a sphere and that they can do better. like sure you /can/, but does it actually add any value to the model? no

Kind of like connect the dots
i think the goals in sylph's lament are just harder to get to without some planning, like i kept accidentally contradicting myself if i wasn't careful
