This drives me crazy! It’s rampant and I even sometimes catch myself in this type of thinking. I think it’s because it’s an easy way to express something disguised as an insight or an opinion.

This book talks about how a defining trait of otaku is that they consume art by breaking down and cataloging the individual components (e.g. cat ears on an anime girl).

I think that's what's going on. Everyone's an annoying otaku now.
