Fair enough, but I think the full horror came as a shock to many - even those opposing fascism. It won’t surprise us now, it’s already happening/happened in Gaza and Guantanamo Bay is going to be a warcrimescene very soon too. God it’s a grim period of history…

It will be interesting, but frightening, to watch. Hitler dispensed with democracy rapidly in Germany but they had very little history with it at that point. USA has been proudly democratic for a reasonable length of time so it might harder to completely take over.

Yes, there are differences, because of time, culture etc. However, there are shocking similarities in the way Trump is rather nakedly demanding he be allowed to take over very large neighbouring countries and territories, which have never been part of the US. The US has no territorial claim to them.

Oh yes of course; the twin worries of impending totalitarianism and the wars of acquisition that follow. The first might be more difficult for him but the 2nd easier as unlike in 1939 there are no peer powers to the USA, at least at the moment (apart from China ofc)

Yes, exactly. But don't forget that Hitler was imitating us. He had great admiration for what we did as we expanded westward and I believe even portrayed the "darker" Europeans of the east as equivalent to the native Americans we killed off or put in, essentially, concentration camps (reservations).

There are about 244 million potential voters in the US. Trump got 77,302,580 votes. That means less than a third of potential voters, voted for Trump, and 166 million Americans of voting age, didn't vote for him.
