Saw the thread and I have a question.
How would one get started into sensitivity consulting/reading?
I read a lot back in the days, and would want to get back to it, on top of writing myself, and I’d like to help others on subjects I’m impacted by or knowledgeable about.

It's good to have somewhere that lists what you read for and who you are.
A Sensitivity Reader is someone who reads over a work and analyzes a text based on a certain topic or concern by the creator.
For example, I read novels that involve Black characters (among other areas).
We are also not shields from criticism.
We take our time going through a piece and give thoughtful, insightful remarks and suggestions on how to improve.
You may have also seen me use the term "sensitivity consultant" and "sensitivity reader" interchangeably.
The difference between the two depends on the person. 😊
Or I'm consulting on the initial work and then again on the revised piece.

I think I speak for most of us when I say there's nothing we dislike more than being brought in at the very end, when we can't really help.
The week before launch is for one final polish, NOT initial work.
I did one rush consult for nonbinary and men loving men representation and got that fixed. But I knew that a scene depicting suicide was too late to replace and would crush the work.
