You could try asking the libraries of Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide and/or Oxford Centre for Mission Studies. Both have good and up to date collections much of which are generated in Asia and Africa, and would know who the Big Names are.

i m argentinian. our fine National Scientific Institute (conicet) has a searching site for all documents produced so i searched for "history" + "religion" and you can check titles and see if anything calls your atention.

well i checked and it also lists scientific publications of universities and other institutions so anything published on the matter in Argentina, you should be able to find it over there.
at least while we have Conicet

South Asian religious history, you could start with Wendy Doniger. Manan Ahmed Asif's "The Loss of Hindustan" is a historiographical study of how religion became nationalism. Richard Davis's "Bhagavad Gita: A Biography"... I don't know if he's a 'senior figure' but his bibliography should be good.

The SCE has a Global Scholars Program focused on bringing ethicists to our annual conference, some of whom may be historians as well. I don't see a list on https://sce.org of the ones who have come, but it might be worth checking. I think there have been senior people from Africa and Latin America.
