Only bad thing would be for people that play warframe on the switch (for some reason), no decrease in load times lol. Better performance overall though, which is fantastic.

I expect a steam deck clone and not much else and I'd be happy with that, well obviously the steam deck has been out for a bit now so it'll be better but nintendo with just that is perfect.

IMO it'd be far more impactful if the Switch 2 used an SSD for fast loads and was able to use upscaling techniques like FSR and so-on.

It is expected to use DLSS to upscale and be capable of ray tracing to some degree. The RAM supposedly being used is super fast as well. So, even with PS4 like power, it’ll still perform above what the PS4 could do.

I think Nintendo would consider raytracing to be too much trouble to bother with. They'd wanna keep their consoles cheap and I don't think "powerful enough to do raytracing" fits in with that.

Ray tracing will be necessary moving forward if they will want games to be ported to the new console. Also, the tegra chip it’s rumored to use(nvidia) has those capabilities. Nintendo doesn’t need those features, but 3rd party games are going fully RT. Look at Indiana Jones.

I think Nintendo will do raytracing eventually, but their strategy since the Wii (or Game Boy, arguably) is to intentionally stay a gen or so behind on order to keep their hardware affordable. That in mind, I think RT will be on the Nintendo console after the Switch 2.

All these mock ups are super thin and going to the local electronics store and seeing Lenovo Legion, MSI Claw and 2 different ROG Ally’s next to each other they are all chunky AF.

Also all of them had the worse unfriendly demo UI in the world.

PS4 is where visuals plateaued and the industry really needs to figure out how else to push the medium forward in a way that doesn't cause bloated budgets. 90% of devs are too risk-averse to try anything genuinely new, so it might be up to Nintendo, as always, to show the world how it's done.

This is the argument I see from a lot of Nintendo only fans now. I've seen so many people mad when a game skips because it can't run on the switch. An as we get into late current gen. If it starts behind the same thing is going to happen with the majority of titles.

Totally agree. I played Ghost of Tsushima on the base PS4 and was stunned. I don’t really need more than that and, quite frankly, the industry is imploding because “more” is financially unsustainable.

im kinda at the point now where i dont really care how much power a system has as long as they actually utilize it properly. that was my biggest issue with a lot of stuff on switch, they never actually utilized it properly. ps5 pro is a joke lol, all that hardware for barely any upgrade to games

As long as it can run games like BotW or Pokémon without lag and visual errors, I'd be a happy chap. They're making leaps and bounds, but need to make sure the products can at least run standard games on em at 30FPS consistently 😆

To be fair, Pikmin 4 was visually gorgeous and ran well

If it's that powerful that would be more than plenty. Nowadays it seems like system requirements keep going up but games aren't looking any better. I've been happy with my Steam Deck since it came out.
