Is that confirmed? Or is it based on self-report?

I think that’s referring to badges. It looks like the numbers are from a forthcoming editorial by Bauer (we got them from APS).

That's what I was worried about. I'll wait until that in-press article becomes available, but as @cruwelli.bsky.social et al's article (that you cited in that paragraph) demonstrates, open data badge proportion and actually open data proportion are not the same.
