I think Invincible is a better blood-and-guts superhero satire than The Boys but man this show has no rules whatsoever about what does and does not kill a superhero, or when a punch has zero effect versus exploding their skull. It's totally random what damage they can absorb. - ThreadSky

What I love is the core idea of it being "what if superman could get hurt?" They put the main character, the hero, the main super powered character through hell and he feels all of it.

I was watching the princess bride last night and fezzick throws rocks so hard they explode but then when he slams Westley into a boulder Westley barely reacts

They're just as strong as they need to be for the fiction to be cool at any given moment

Like a major character dies in this last season, heroically doing an attack that takes out a major bad guy with him. But the dying attack was much smaller in scale than previous attacks that the enemy didn't even feel. It's just totally random. Very weird.

Thats fair though in Invincibles case there's a bit more too it than the supermen being evil like okay omni was a Bastard for what he did but its made clear that things aren't really that simple and the actaul superman by the end of it IS mark and its his will and Morals that are Invincible

Really validating to know it's not just me that felt that. It seems to me the creators really struggle with conveying power past a certain point. Like at the start of the season we're told that Mark is significantly stronger than he was previously, but it really doesn't feel that way most the time

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the Invincible War plot makes it more obvious because all the bad guys basically look the same as the main character and it's difficult with the relatively low budget animation to convey the differences in power between them all.

I was extremely frustrated with the Conquest fight. Dude has only one good eye, a massive glaring weak point, and it wasn't even a factor. Combined with the fact that Mark seemed content to just stand there and absorb every one of his attacks instead of, idk, dodging?

Yeah, the power scaling is all over the place.

Both Invincible and The Boys shows are better than their respective comics, which I think is really cool!
