Everything they did with the spheres in Phantasm was so clever. The reason it looks like it’s flying so smooth and straight without wires? Camera’s sideways. It’s falling. So much dynamic motion, and so memorable.
there are mirrors all through WORLD ON A WIRE, which preceeded THE MATRIX a few ways, and there's a similar shot of a mirror ball in an office. i hadda stop playback and watch the shot a couple of times, it's great
i'm trying to find pictures and failing. i really need to see the film again, anyway. i can't remember why i'm haunted by images of... a bus depot cafe? something like that...
She also appears in the scene from the Special Edition where they do the "brain surgery" on the T-800. The mirror is actually just a regular window, with her and a fake head in front of the glass and Linda and Arnold behind it.
My favourite is for old Hammer movie, bats flying around a castle turret, it was a fish tank with a packet of tea leaves, stir, film and superimpose, one of the effects guys who did it old me.
Me, unable to load anything because a branch broke the electrical connection to my house and I’m low on cell data: “Yep, that’s pretty low-tech, alright….”

Linda Hamilton has a twin sister. It's not an effect, it's just two women who look exactly the same.
