I think this matches Vingegaard’s style — he was slow to return to racing after the 2022 TdF and has taken off some additional time every year since.

Sort of “work-life balance,” … don’t see a need to read more into it. He has his priorities.

I don't think that Liège-Bastongne-Liège or Tour de Romandie would threaten his work-life balance that much. I'm not talking Strade-Cobbles-Ardennes-Tour-Vuelta-Worlds all in one year like Pogacar does.

But yes, he didn't showed this full passion for the sport in the past years.

This is a bad take. It disregards rider health and questions Jonas' desire to race when that is limited by a medical situation you know nothing about. Concussions are very serious. And even on sporting merit, sponsors care about the TdF and almost nothing compares. Being ready for that matters most.

Vingegaard stated that he doesn not have any physical issues anymore after it. My first argument is to put things sharply. A rider who's healthy and barely raced should be a little bit more hungry to race or win again after. Tour de Romandie would have been a nice opportunity now

The main goal of Tade Pogacar and his team is also the Tour de France but it doesn't hold them back to also target other major races in other months before that. I'm not expecting a fully fit Vingegaard to do Sanremo or Flanders too, but Liège & Romandie wouldn't hurt him.

He's trying to beat the unbeatable in the tour. This year they're going all in for that. Leaves very little room for taking chances. He's not out 3 months because of a concussion - but also concussions CAN leave you out WAY longer than that! Reason is likely prep, logistics and hard priorities.

He declared to be recovered again. Even when he's fit, he's barely racing before the Tour de France. A little bit more passion to win races all year long wouldn't hurt him. Froome wasn't a classic rider too, but he also did Liège-Bastogne-Liège in his best years, even while he never won it.

You're insinuating a lot of things you don't really know anything about, including his *passions*. Dude came back from hell last year to race again in a sport that nearly killed him - if that's not passion, I don't know what is. He'll race on day races when he and the team sees fit.

Evenepoel also had many impactful crashes, even again one, this Winter. But he still does multiple classics and grand tours. It shows a different motivation. Last year, Vingegaard also didn't even attempt to race Worlds & Lombardy. Despite finishing runner-up in TDF and winning in Poland.

So much to unpack here omg. 1) Jonas has MORE race days the last 3 years than Pogi fx (despite his crash). This "he never races" needs to stop. YOU preferring one day races and valuing them more is on you. 2) Not riding one day races says zero about motivation. 3) Did you even see him in Poland?!

Dude was DONE, and if you saw a rider not needing recovery, then I don't know what to tell ya. He lost kilos of muscle mass and needed full recovery to be a rider again. He couldn't race those races. Doesn't mean he won't race worlds this year, which he in fact has stated he wants to, so that's it

Van der Hoorn was out for a year and a bit after his concussion. Just because you can't see the injury, it doesn't mean it isn't serious.
