Now that I have out of the way, for the au I'm making Kaia a daughter from a well off family. She herself was pretty uninvolved with the mafia but her parents are acquainted with Oz and asked him or at least someone he trusts to watch over her since she was almost kidnapped

Oz assigned Arthur to be her bodyguard which makes Arthur really happy because he's like "Oh Oz finally trusts me with something important!!" boy is SO PROUD OF HIMSELF AS HE SHOULD !!!!

Naturally they do get close since they spend so much time together, and they are around the same age..

Her own parents supported them dating as well because..mostly because he is Oz's apprentice.

unfortunately, she does kick the bucket about 3 years before the story takes place (DO YA'LL SEE WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS) because she was assassinated by the same organization that tried to kidnap her
