It was very much a compromise; ironically Democrats were basically the party of the status quo, including our horrendous, evil Israel policy.

Any actually important or popular changes to systems like health care only ever happens with the active blessing of industry. Nothing is ever citizens first.

Correct! Blows my mind how few people understand that Romney Care and the ACA weren't ever great for people. They were great for ins companies, and okay for the population. Yes it's helped a ton of folks, but we could do SO MUCH better.

To be successful in the Democratic Party it is almost required to believe in working closely with industries and making their lobbyists happy.

I dream of an '09 where democrats simply passed single payer. It was so possible.

I've said for years that the Republicans are paid to be loud about stupid demands while Democrats are paid to act like they're fighting back while they acquiesce to those demands. It's so infuriating.
