The forested great parks in and around London were referred to as "The Lungs of London" by William Pitt the Elder in the 18th century when factories were belching out huge volumes of smoke and toxic fumes.
And contrary to common belief, when they are not being damaged and destroyed by home owners who don't want to deal with leaves, they protect our homes too.
I protect the landscape from erosion, produce wood for you to build houses from, provide fruit, give your honey bees nectar, produce oxygen so you can breathe
When shops offer me a receipt I always say "No, save a tree", I get a chuckle or a "Well done" or a "Nice" or a "Will do" it's only small but as a supermarket says "Every Little Helps"
