I've been in the same boat since covid. I'm grateful that I have supporters to commission me and keep me afloat, but man. It's like I'm mourning an industry I've wanted to be in since childhood.

A friend helped get me hired as a 3D animator to work with an amazing team and I was told by those folks, some who worked there for upwards of a decade, that it was stable. I was prepared to stay with this company long term! A year in, the project was cancelled and the whole team fired.

Meemee is plenty qualified and she's been out of work more than 2 years. Since July 2023 I can't find anything and despite dozens of applications, I'm nearing the same milestone. We do art comms now to make due. Rising rent, fires, and no work make it clear we can't stay in Burbank anymore.

I sympathize with everyone in the same situation as us, and it's sad to see the state of an industry that should be fueled by human expression. I'm so grateful to the folks who commission us, it means the world to me and it helps us get by. I'd say I'm hopeful for change but I don't want to lie yall
