Grown-ups appreciate getting socks for the holidays not because they’re boring but because they have accumulated enough wisdom to understand that good socks are actually an awesome gift.

Your post and Tea's are the first I've heard of Darn Toughs, but you may be assured that I'm now quietly hoping someone I know sees this exchange when selecting a Hanukkah gift this year.
It's such a cozy thing. Honestly, any time I've been gifted socks it's because the person saw something that made them think of me or that they thought I'd like. Socks have always felt like a thoughtful gift.
This year I learned about wool socks. One would think someone who has lived for a half century would have experienced that already, but in this specific instance one would be wrong.
Yes! Last year someone in my family asked me what I wanted, and I answered nice socks. And they asked if I was being a comedian? No, I am not being a comedian.
I like receiving socks, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. It means I get to spend my money on the luxuries I want, instead of being assigned luxuries as a gift. (And then having to spend my checks on paper towels!)

Holiday themed socks
By the time you unwrap them, the season for wearing holiday socks has already passed
Gotta wait a whole year before they're appropriate again smh
Especially those "throw blankets" or whatever they're called, that are decently sized, but not too heavy.
I will always appreciate a blanket as a gift, and I'm still yet to receive a duplicate
