I would like to write a long piece about how this is also an affront to generations of us who grew up along the Gulf of Mexico and don't think that identity belongs to a New York slumlord...but then I would actually have to think about this stupid bullshit.

The Gulf of Mexico is now officially known as the “Gulf of America,” at least according to the U.S. government. The Trump administration appears to have the authority to change the name, even though other countries do not have to go along with it. nyti.ms/3EbgOAS
