In all seriousness...why do ordinary people need guns at all?
The 2nd is centuries old and from an era when the USA had no regular army, but I can vouch for the fact that the Redcoats are not likely to return in the foreseeable future.
Admittedly, I don't have a strategy at hand which is most likely to be successful, as owning guns has turned from the necessity of protecting the nation to a fetish and the necessity to protect oneself from the fetishists (and baddies).
