It’s chilling reading that. Lawyered up rather than address the issue, which was not doing their job protecting all New Zealanders from online hate, violence and msygonist rhetoric.

NZ failed in protecting Jacinda from the relentless abuse she received in so many different ways, but this aggressive power driven move from Netsafe and NZ Tech, in an effort to *protect* themselves demonstrates their total failure to understand their purpose.

It reeked of butt covering and patch protection. I think the leadership of netsafe and nztech should re-evaluate their positions.

I was appalled by their behavior.

Agree - the leadership need to re evaluate their positions.

Even if they couldn't handle the totally valid criticism from the HRC, the right thing to do would be to just talk it through.
Instead, they make themselves look 100 times worse which will result in victims of online abuse losing trust.
