The thing I appreciate most about working with actual human artists is the back-and-forth, the spark and refinement of an idea in the moment, the magic of two minds getting on the same wavelength and playing off each other to to make something magical. It's communication and connection.

This is what I love about working with artists. Seeing them bring their own style and ideas into it because they truly care and want to make that art commission/photo/song/story into something special that they can be pround of and that you'll be happy with.

This is the worst thing about generative imagery: it obviates any understanding or appreciation of craft, skill, grit, or even pure luck and replaces it with smooth-brain "AI could have done that" reflexive thinking. It sucks all the magic out of art. God save you if you're down this hole.

Image generators are used as nothing but a content mill. Put as little effort into it as possible, get as much content out of it in return so you can farm engagement and make money.

It's used as a grift and nothing more. Even if it wasn't, no person bothered to create it, therefore it is worthless.

(and I mention the costs involved not to flex but to make the point that if you're going to make novel art and not just stand atop a mountain of stolen work with your RTX 4090 and extrude pink content slime with it, you have to be willing to put skin in the game, both literally and figuratively)
