hot take... Sonic 2 is better than Sonic 3, Sonic 3 had a lot of issues imo. Also like Captain America's trilogy and arguably GOTG were the last movie trilogies, for me at least, that could be described as getting better with each installment.

I blame Jim Carey.

And by that, I mean I feel he is responsible.

And by that I mean he is an incredible actor, and he made the first movie so much better than it ever needed to be. The fact that they didn't replace him with someone cheap for the sequels means they actually care. That means a lot.

I would rank them 1 -> 3 -> 2. So to me this wouldn’t fall under that category. BUT all three movies are a blast just about equal. So the consistency is on point for this trilogy. It rocks!

See, for me it's that escalation that breaks the perfection. #1 had the cold intimacy to it. It was small, personal, and had nothing was unneeded. 2/3 were really amazing, but I don't think were as finely tuned as #1.
#4... Was astounding and I loved every second of it.
