Metroid truly is one of Nintendo's most beloved series, but for a while, Nintendo didn't really treat it like it was. Granted, Metroid's never been one of their "big sellers" the same way Mario, Pokemon, and Zelda were, but still, Metroid fans are very passionate and vocal about their passion!

A scary time, too. A failed game leading to a feeling the series was dead, followed by a game that felt like a test that wasn't what any of us wanted that flopped, and a game we *might* have wanted not selling well because it was released on a console that was on the way out.
