You know, I didn't notice that you never indicate a year in the book. It's also interesting how I assumed it was in the future (not distant, but not now).

It's also fascinating to me how where I live it's rare to hear anyone talk about how different the climate was 5-10 years ago.

Anyway, I only write this to point out that severe climate breakdown isn’t some distant threat looming on the horizon. It’s the fire that burned Lytton down in 2021, or the hurricane that leveled PEI in 2022, or or or or.

I live somewhere where there’s usually snow on the ground till March, and we’ve had one snowfall that stuck around for a couple days before melting. This is the second year in a row. Also our whole city was nearly torched in a 13,500 hectare wildfire in 2023. It’s now!

My older bro lives in your city! He had to evacuate in 2023 (his place was spared the worst). But yes, it's now and three years ago. lol. 😲

Yeah, we had to evacuate for a bit too. The fire fighters out here are incredible. So many communities we thought were completely lost
