Public libraries are a really beautiful aspect of our civic life.
As I sit here working in my community library, I feel these operate according to the norms of "public goods" that would apply elsewhere, too.
So if we can agree our libraries should exist, maybe other public goods should too...

If all public libraries were run by the federal govt I think they’d be much different

On the other hand, I feel like public libraries are underutilized and some form of advertising might remind people of the free resources.

Branch hospitals in each community, wide access to healthcare providers, meds, treatments... 🥺
