I think he’s always been a contrarian, and that used to tend more towards leftism bc Bernie Sanders’s platform appealed to his material interests at the time (healthcare and weed) but since he’s made money it’s gone to classic libertarian bent (i hate taxes).
Ah yes. Used to identify as Libertarian but can't anymore. They're overrun with "I hate taxes" while also being "government doesn't work, just look at the roads we don't maintain because we won't pay taxes! Because we're poor! And hope to become rich!" I just can't.... They "are not serious people."
I think, for many, the economy is their God. I mean, libertarianism is predicated on the idea of the free market as the regulating authority, rather than the government. It’s fundamentally unserious, bc they don’t acknowledge that people won’t always act in their best financial interest.
I would say he def embodies the “upper-middle class Bernie bro to Techno-Libertarian to Intellectual Dark Web to Trumper” pipeline. It happened to several guys in my college class. Genuinely Rogan to Vivek and Musk to Trump.
He definitely has always been a contrarian but there is def a partisan bent to his programming. You don’t see him spotlighting “defund the police” and “universal housing for all” spokespeople like you do “blue cities are horrific” or “vaccines don’t work” or “unhoused people deserve what they get.”
Rogan specifically sabotaged Harris’s attempt to go on the show, then lied about it afterward. He’s a conservative and it’s painfully obvious from his choice of guests.

He's a savagely stupid, bigoted, misogynist prick. Pretending he had any home other than the GOP is laughable.
