"What do I get out of this" is so weird to me. You get THE CUP. HELLO.

Yeah, that last part is the whole thing. Watching my favorite team win and try to win trophies is kind of the whole thing. I wouldn’t get a “prize” by watching my team win the NBA Championship either by that logic

Most fans understand this I think. I mean the cup games are wildly outselling regular season games. Pacers fans certainly were way more hyped for the team after the run last year.

Fans say only rings, banners and trophies matter, and then the NBA adds a chance to add a banner and a trophy and fans are like "BUT IT'S NOT THE ONE I WANT"

As a toxic fan I like the added opportunity to criticize a player. “Sure Jimmy Butler/Jayson Tatum/Nikola Jokic have proven themselves to be elite when the lights are brightest, but they choke when the lights are slightly dimmer. Clearly they can’t handle the moderate heat of the NBA cup”

I think it would mean more to fans if they made the NBA Cup games stand alone events rather than just your regularly scheduled Tuesday/Friday night November game sandwiched around other games that aren’t NBA Cup games and even back to backs.
