I am specifically talking to YOU, my cishet white male brothers who were raised by other men in the South or the Midwest (though geography actually matters very little).

Most romance is written by a female author. This means what you're getting is a female perspective of the subject that yours desperately needs. It is, in a way, a manual for how your romantic emotions are *supposed* to work.

But here's the catch: There is a LOT of bad romance. A lot. And the depictions in a bad romance are WAY more toxic than reality often is. But there are a lot of good depictions in romance too. And the only way to know the difference is to read a whole lot of it.
