did we not literally just make a movie about why making a child emotionally dependent on an AI meant to replace having actual human friends and counselors was a bad idea???

Yeah, the professors at the college I work at are all struggling like mad to figure out how to deal with AI from both ends - knowing/teaching about it AND stopping students from using it. It's a nightmare either way.
(this is your regular reminder to go watch M3gan if you've never seen it, it's an astonishingly good horror/dark comedy movie with a strong emotional core)
