Guess the poem that has been turned into a limerick (1)
In a land that us far far away
Is a statue in a state of decay
The message from the past
Is that things never last
No matter how mighty today
In a land that us far far away
Is a statue in a state of decay
The message from the past
Is that things never last
No matter how mighty today

I'ld like to live on lake
For peace and quietness sake
There'll be birds and beans
And bucolic scenes
In which I wish to partake
(Which, learned at school in Ireland in the 1940s, my mum could still recount by heart even when she had advanced dementia).
(Sorry. Not here very often).
