lauraaaa your art always makes me so happy when i see it π₯°
did you know i only learned that puffins' bills are nearly flat a few months ago?! i was shocked! i thought they would be fat like a parrot or finch or something! not narrow and tall!
Not only that, but they shed the outer layer of their beaks annually during their molt after their breeding season. Their beaks are duller during the winter and brighter during summer!
Thank you bb!! Omg, that is fair! They look like parrots for sure. I grew up looking at puffins as they have them at the National Aquarium but I am always surprised at how small they are, too!!! Such fun little guys.
They're fantastic! and obv just stunning in profile π€£
i was watching some nature doc on PBS talking about birds that live in colonies, and one of the puffins turned its head and i was like NO WAY. I'm too used to birds with weirdly flat bills like spoonbills, not narrow ones, lol
This is so beautiful π₯Ή I had the pleasure of spending a whole week on Skokholm Island amongst these beautiful birds and it changed my entire life.
Thank you for this beautiful art reminding me of such an amazing experience β€οΈ itβs perfect π
