The closest we get to experiencing nature is in the first-person moments on the flat, formless landscape and then the beach, which both completely lack natural colorations and any life. The nature left has been completely dried out and turned into a lifeless husk.

"Complete instrumentalization of the environment" is seen as a desired outcome and triumph of human achievement by some of the more fascist sci-fi writers of the Soviet Union.
Though they see it in more romantic light, without the actual reality of living under an excavator.

These thoughts are why I want to set my little Signalis fan stories on Vineta. The artificial of Replikas meets the remains of the natural and try to understand and nurture them - and see reflections of them in themselves. In spite of grief for what was lost, a hope for a brighter future
