‘AI is in everything! If you use spellcheck, you can’t be mad about ChatGPT!’
Look, you determinedly obtuse cantaloupe, don’t slander spell check, first created in 1961, made for PCs in 1980. NO ONE THINKS A SPELL CHECKER IS GEN AI.
What in the ever-loving straw-man tomfoolery.

It's more a marketing ploy than anything else, trying to make it seem like it's more than it really is while also allowing it to be grouped with algorithms that are actually useful.
when at best its just a slightly better algorithm based off an LLM or Machine learning model.
Fain, fane, and feign are all separate things, but in both prose and poetry, the ability to use them in careful ways still changes everything.
GenAI and predictive text (its predecessor) can't handle that sentence, because it's using terms in unusual ways. They apply grammar via rote rules that even OED wouldn't claim are taboo.
"[Desperately] pretending to maintain a temple [level of] formality, the [conservative Catholic and weather inappropriate] garbed priest felt their will [to be] excited fail in the dangerously hot room [meant for holding holy relics]."
"Don't you mean fan, because fane should only be used in a 'noun' sense and the room is hot."
Noun sense? Nonsense! Language was made to be broken and reshaped in ways LLMs aren't designed for. Spellcheck though? It can keep up. It's just an electronic dictionary.
No, they are utterly different things. 🤦
Using gen-ai doesn't replace the dictionary; it replaces the writer!!
... altho, likely would be glorious & fascinating.
You want to use AI to analyze a metric shit ton of data and point out something maybe you don't see? Cool use of tech.
Yeah, comparing GenAI to spellcheck or enemy behaviours in Rogue because they use the same buzzword would be ridiculous
thing is, no self-respecting author I know bothers to use Grammarly when standard spellcheck exists.
