I got pulled over the other day for the first time in years and this cop was dressed like she was about to defuse a bomb in a war zone and she acted like we were in a high stakes hostage situation, like what the fuck, man, we are in a Starbucks parking lot in Hillsboro Oregon.

They get taught that every person they encounter is a direct threat not to the public but to THEM. Personally. And that they are special and wonderful and deserve to go home. Unlike the rest of us.

Then Uvalde happens and they are all too scared to deal with it.

This inculcation into a belief that they are in imminent danger specifically includes how traffic stops can become deadly for cops with the dash at footage of one incident being pervasive in training.

The purpose of the Dinkheller video, and many others like it shown at police academies, is to teach officers that any situation could escalate to violence. Cop killers lurk around every corner. This belief justifies everything else. All their violence but it also makes them important big heroes.

That policing is uniquely dangerous is of course a lie. That it is more dangerous to be a delivery driver is well known but also more dangerous to be farmer, trucker, or trash collector.

Our tax dollars pay for him to teach cops this dangerous nonsense.
