In all honesty, when Clinton was impeached, but was allowed to remain in office, we started down the road we’re on now. This rot goes deep and has been here for longer than anyone wants to admit, even before Clinton, I guess.
Trump is the hyperbolically, superlatively bad expression of all of it.
