+1 for finding the books disappointing direct adaptations of the corresponding episodes. ‘The Creek’ and ‘The Beach’ have had some tweaks that make them better (or less clunky at least) to read, but the episodes themselves are just lovely that I’d honestly suggest starting there when you feel ready.
I am trying to keep him away from the tv for as long as possible. (Tho we are already buckling for Ms Rachel, the only thing that holds his attention right now 😣). Want to get him big into books. Books books books!
Trying to put all my energy into books rather than tv right now. Already the blasted Ms Rachel has made her way into our living room. Less of that, please. More of adventures into reading!
Yeah, no Ms Rachel in my house. A couple of books that have proven very popular with my 3 year-old - Stellaphant by @jamesfoleybooks.bsky.social (I love this one), Life in Mars by @jonagee.bsky.social, and Dalmatian by Lucy Ruth Cummins.
They’ve come out in cribs and drabs as after thought sales channels from the show afaik so there’s no real order. Though I’d probably look to do them at a season level?
The Bluey bks can be read in any order. Reading is reading, don’t worry if all bks don’t operate on several levels as other books you choose will. Just buy 1 or 2 to test engagement and donate if there’s none.

I will say Baby Race and Sleepytime are far better experiencing the cartoon firsthand (for the parent), so anything but them is a winner.
