So this is what I love most about writing, the joy it brings me. I've heard the Dorothy Parker quote about hating writing, but I disagree wholly. The process is the best part. You start with literally nothing, and when you're done, it's a whole thing and completely yours. *Doing* that is amazing.
Well I'm writing a screenplay based on a classic American literature book about a strong woman so I'm not really pulling them out of a blank page. But it sure is exciting.
Side effects may include crippling self doubt, insomnia, isolation, carrying a notepad and pencil everywhere you go, forgetting to bathe, substance abuse, writer's block, savefile search adventures, fusing with your chair, mild headaches, and sudden bursts of inspiration at inappropriate times.
Absolutely! And how mind blowing is it that I could (albeit in translation) read the musings or poetry or whatever of someone who lived thousands of years ago.
Always liked the concept of this literalized in the games Myst and Riven, where a race of people have the ability to write books that open doorways to whatever universe matches their writing. The idea being that these worlds always existed, they just find them in their words to link to them.
