Has anyone who was on disability managed to get off of it and support themselves? Especially if via a fulfilling career that comes with good insurance. How did you do it? Scared and need hope #actuallyautistic

that sucks a lot!! I'm sorry you weren't believed. It does make it harder the less far back your documentation goes. people dont believe that I have physical issue they attribute it to my mental conditions so I've had issues accessing care for that
I was never on disability just crashed out of all my jobs until I moved into the tech industry as people told me it's more flexible. It's much more suitable for autistic/ADHD people. I'd say it's taken me about 5 years to get into it with no background or contacts. If you know people it's easier
They really don’t give out ssi/ssdi unless there is little hope of you ever earning a living wage without significant improvement in your disability… I got it because I was institutionalized for years. But somehow I think since my disabilities are mostly mental its more possible to somehow “fix”
I don’t know how true that actually is and if I’m right that it is partly physical or my doctors are right that it is anxiety. I definitely do have bad anxiety. I think autism, adhd, and GAD disable me about equally but I have freeze type anxiety and all the meds target energetic anxiety
