If I recall an official account said that if people were more "positive" they might release more material. Which did not have the effect they wanted seeing as they never asked more hateful elements to just be nice. Not that being unhappy with the last film was anywhere close to what some did.

I get what they were trying to say, but that could have been worded better. I do think some fans improperly use “toxic positivity” as a deflection. I’ve been accused of that when I can be critical of the new material.

The fandom menace has to separate us or else we become too powerful. Look how easily we dominated sites like tumblr & AO3, enough to allow us to stretch out into books. If we got reylo writers & artists together in one open & cohesive space that statement might become true.
