I've narrowed its replacement down to three possibilities:
Pixel 6a
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
Moto Edge 24
They're all used, and all within $5 of each other. The Edge is the newest, obviously, but it paradoxically has the shortest security update period.

Does no one in your fam has a device they could borrow you for a while?
What's your old one anyway, brand & product number...
Would be weird if no one here one BSKY could donate a 2nd hand phone for a leftist lawyer
I don't have any experience with the other two phones, so I can't offer comparisons. Best wishes!
👀 This was a 3a I had I think a couple years ago
I’ve seen more HW issues with newer pixels than I have from 6 series ones (and again, the a series ones just survive better for some reason)
People complain about 'bloatware' on its cellphones, but the fact is you can delete the bloatware off of it, none of it is stuck on it, and virtually every phone has bloatware.
It also has good service and isn't invasive with bullshit
Which of these do you figure is the most future proof and best bang for my limited bucks?
Iirc, there has been a number of FEs since that model and depending on how far back, that model might not receive the updates within a couple yr
Battery life is also phenomenal in the 6a and I assume you’d not be gaming ton
Replacing a battery? Sure, great. The other stuff adds up fast.
I think the other ones have bigger batteries
Samsung's fine
I've never had a good moto smartphone, they've all been a huge disappointment
I'm not super familiar with the particulars but I'd expect they probably benefit from your phone being a well-selling one since there might be slightly better support
Works fairly well having purchased February of 22
