Yeah that's a shitty illogical leap. Anyone paying attention should know it's lack of supply of affordable housing that puts landlords in the driver's seat to abuse tenants. That and lack of reasonable rent control.

If the market can't provide good quality housing that isn't infested AND return tenants' security deposits with proper notice, the answer is to just decommodify housing. It's better to sacrifice landlord profits than to have people live in shitty conditions, actually.

when enough laws pass that require landlords lose 5 - 6 months rent or more, before they can get a non-paying tenant out & individual landlords can't afford it and sell and corporations scoop up the condos and townhouses, let's see if that is better.

I guess you've never been a landlord. It takes work to be a decent landlord. Often, the investors are the ones who volunteer for the HOA board. Volunteer to do essential work for the community. And most individual investors have a 9-5 job or are retired & older. Maybe don't be so snarky.

HOA boards are overwhelmingly a blight on anyone who isn’t on them. Additionally, I have an excellent landlord whom I thoroughly like but that doesn’t change my stance at all. Also I responded with the energy of your post.

You comment must be referring to HOAs in a single family home community. The HOA in condo community is essential. They take care of plumbing, roof and siding, balconies, lawn, asphalt, recreation areas, trash, provide water. Is that the blight you mean?
