Unfortunately in my state perfection politics has taken over the party and everyone who isn’t perfect is run off. Meanwhile our party leadership is a mean girl who loses race after race after race. Depressing.

We don't need a new democratic party but a whole new opposition party that the grassroots must push for. If not, 2026 midterms will be mild successes by leftist policies, which are promptly ignored in 2028 by a wave of reactionary policies led by whatever moderate conservative the democrats run.

My local dem party texts everyone periodically like "Do you want to run? We'll support you!" I'm not saying I'd be a great candidate, but if I were I would be too scared. The local GOP is terrifying and I would fear for my safety.
