I'd be really interested in the opposite side of this spectrum; people who maybe dont care so much about authenticity, or maybe it's a societal change? Growing up as a grunge kid, I remember how important it was to not be viewed as a 'sell-out'. Like in Wayne's World when they film a commercial.
however, now it seems like selling out is a lot more normalized. It is the age of the influencer and everyone is selling you something, trying to cultivate sponsors, and maintain their viewers donations.
Thank you. That paragraph hits hard. I've always had a fun fantasy of running for public office and have never seriously entertained the idea as work has been my life since I was 16. I am now more motivated than ever to run for an office to effectively make positive progress!
