Well I come on here scroll the feed and mostly see endless posts about politics and news. Honestly if I want to read the news I can go to any number of news sites and to me one of the worst things about Facebook is that it’s basically just another news outlet. Bluesky is not using algorithms to maximize profits by feeding you content that creates engagement, you see what the people you follow post. It's a deeply politicaly polarized time. Here you have a chance to curate your feed rather than allow corporations to decide which of your friends posts see.

I agree. But what’s different about blue sky you can make custom feeds. You have to curate it. The challenge is not everybody has adopted the platform.

One more tip for now: I started a list for myself called "IRL Friend Network" to which I've added all y'all moon freaks and others I know forrealz, face to face. Whenever someone I know IRL follows me here, they're added to the list. Then, I changed the order of my Feeds in Settings. Presto!

Now I start my Bluesky experience by default with familiar faces. After that, I prioritized the other feeds and lists I've added that are niche-driven, followed by Following for a wider perspective. The Discover feed is WAAAAAY down in priority for me. Far less random & irrelevant posts 👍

feed curation is the name of the game here, along with keyword muting (temporary or permanent, up to you). It takes a little more effort on a platform with minimal algorithms to find the posts you want to see, but it can be done. Hang in there.
