I can't hang with the Number Humpers but I also want to make my characters functional for a group because it helps me integrate into one without feeling out-of-place.
I naturally lean the Roleplayer side otherwise, but have been instructed to optimize at times.

Those are the ones we still talk about years later!
Why even call it a game at all if the game elements are glossed over?
There are still those of us that want the game elements adhered to
In fact because those elements are relatively more out of your control they lead to stories just as memorable.
