We have one of those in Hartford. Traffic entering off of the Whitehead Highway (a short strip of four-lane divided highway off I-91) has the right of way and the cars in Pulaski Circle are expected to yield. I’m never confident they actually will because it violates all known rotary logic
Last night had a guy inside the roundabout not understand that he had the right of way and tried to let me merge while basically idling his way around the roundabout. Very cool.
There is a roundabout in front of my apartment. At least twice a day I hear a horn or tires screeching because someone did not understand yield signs apply to the direction they're facing, not the cross traffic.
There’s still more than twice as many rotaries than roundabouts in Mass, so yes I’m aware of the differences. Including the massive signs that say “Rotary” in the circle
It’s still a different thing and provides no value to correct someone on terminology when the actual subject of their thought is expressing frustration at drivers who don’t know how to merge.
