Still amazed they admitted they elected the old guy with cancer over the popular AOC because it was his turn. Like they are all waiting in line for a thing and it is just business as usual.
Almost every option has been tried to get Democrats on the right track to address systemic issues. But we can’t beat out capital, super PACs, and the two sets of donor classes they serve.
Remember after 9/11 when everyone was talking about how the best way to prevent another one was to join Al Qaeda and work to change them from the inside? We've got to make a new Al Qaeda that puts the needs of people first.
it's funny how much effort has been put into defeating hamas when if my home was blown up and my relatives were killed and everyone I knew was homeless or starving or dead and I spent over a year watching the USA and israel blowing kids up... if it were me, well you can be sure I'd be joining hamas2
Lol, that's actually on me, I'm super tired and I thought you wrote that as a response to a Star Trek comment I made somewhere and I was BAFFLED. Makes a lot more sense here.
no matter how badly the democrats fuck up, no matter how incompetent and milquetoast they are, no matter how badly they compromise and surrender their principles and destroy progressives, no matter how bad things get... everyone just ends up joining the democrats again after the GOP ruin their lives
the school's direction really changed for the better after one of the kids cleverly tricked an online kik groomer into showing up to meet in a "civil war" movie costume with guns, only to encounter armed police. after that tragic incident the school cafeteria started serving nothing but A&W floats
I did a door knocking campaign once, and a guy was yelling at me about anchor babies. And you’re supposed to say something diplomatic, but I was just like “how the hell did you think you got here, pal?”
"get better people to run" but those few better people already in there get hobbled by the seniors in their own party who are just in it to win the next election. Or are forced to immediately start compromising their values and the things they wanted to fight for to toe the party line
This is actually a fanatic metaphor. The hall monitor has zero chance of changing school policies, they only have a choice in how they are enforced. The wealthy control the world, and the politicians are just hall monitors.
it rules how like. the entire republican playbook is based around making people so scared and exhausted that they don't have the time or energy to even consider dissent much less running for office, and yet when democrats have the chance to improve material conditions they're like "no thanks"
unfortunately, both the GOP & DNC playbooks run on centering capitalism, which is the real reason most ppl live in an semi-conscious state of anxiety & exhaustion as basic human needs are priced ever higher so that those Few at the top

Let me take a couple years of Toastmasters so I can get over my crippling stage fright and then I'll run for office, while I'm food shopping, working, driving kids around, cooking, cleaning, walking dogs, etc.
Have these people ever actually TRIED to take over a local Democratic machine?? Or even ever dealt with one?? I’ve run protests with these people, they will cut the mic the millisecond you start talking about the root of the problem even if you were the ones who brought the mic!
We did it here in Tampa & while the rich white people got super mad (with one of them, my state house member, deciding she’s a Republican now) we now have a county DEC led by young, Black, & queer folks. It can in fact happen esp when you show ppl that things can be better!
What do you mean, material reality doesn't exist! Anyone can just do anything at any time! There definitely aren't very intentional mechanisms of social reproduction of the ruling classes in Bourgeois democracy!
Sympathies in general but this seems pretty remarkable unless you specifically cultivate social circles to only socialize with people who have three jobs. Totally possible that that happened but only 5% of employed people or so have even 2 or more jobs, per the BLS
If this was meant to be hyperbolic I apologize. It seems like the low rate of multiple job holders compared to historic levels (flat since around 2012 save for COVID impacts sinking it dramatically, but lower than the 1990’s 6.5%) makes local political activity more possible
There are 100% other barriers and local parties can be extremely cliquey in ways that would make Tammany Hall blush, but people working more hours or more jobs than usual doesn’t seem to be what’s making that happen
Is Litman the one who helps only candidates under 40? Because that’s a huge problem. I know most politicians are elderly and we like to say it’s why they’re terrible. But it’s not their age per se. At any rate, 40 is too young for a cutoff. Young ppl have definitely shown they can be fools too.
I love how they make it sound so obvious. I spent decades trying to do exactly what they said and got nowhere. It's not designed for people anymore; it's designed for money.

Got better at reading their bylaws than them. Got better at electing progressives than them.
What we got in return; one friend sexually assaulted by the 17-18 CADEM chair and lawsuit threats in the mail from our local central committee chair.

Like every 3 months for like a year and a half we had to scream at them to not pass KOSA.
Somehow, us going ballistic every 3 months never seemed to make them understand we fucking hate this, don't do it.
they caved on ACORN after an obvious rat fuck job.
(-Jon Stewart I think?)
The billionaires crush everything that isn't just towing the capitalist party line.
