Yep, SRAM Red. I didn't find it — it's just what my bike came with. It's *ancient* now and probably quite ready for an upgrade! I've had multiple Shimano's. At the time, the SRAM DoubleTap was a novelty, and I liked it a lot. It's been a long time since I've ridden anything else. ↵
I did rent a bike in Nice that had the more conventional two-button config. Since I was riding repeatedly up the Madone, I was mostly in one gear and not particularly focused on shifting. (-: I think the quality of the tuning of the assembly is more important than any of these details.
Speaking of components, has @shriram.bsky.social been eyeing the whole container ship thing? I'm kind of thinking I might stock up on some crucial components before we get hit with biking pandemic 2.0. Maybe I'm just paranoid though.
TBH I'm really, really close to saying "let's go ahead and upgrade my shifters". They're ancient, not working so well, and…given that these things are made in Taiwan…
The last time I replaced a set of shifters, I think it cost almost as much as when I bought the whole bike--well, at least the same order of magnitude.
