I think given that Trump has challenged every core element of previous European Council conclusions going back three years, the leaders had no choice but to reaffirm the key ingredients of a future peace deal. Good they did so – now they'll have to defend it.

Do not do anything to appease Trump. For example, committing to 5% GDP spend. He will not honor his reciprocal commitments or his NATO obligations. It couldn’t be more obvious. Do only what you and the other countries deem necessary.

All in all a good ambition level. The language includes many workable things, from increasing military aid, frontloading financial aid, continuing the training mission with Ukraine’s armed forces, to investment into Ukraine’s defence industry (+ integration with European industry).
